Platforms like YouTube (YT) have given every individual an easy access to create their own YouTube channel. The channel not only helps them give voice to their thoughts, but also help them earn by creating and sharing content via their YouTube channel.
Here are some easy-to-understand steps that will help you create a brand new YT channel. Remember that you can have as many channels as you want. Start with the first and grow from thereon. Don’t forget to document your journey!
Step 1 – Sign into YouTube Using Your Google Account
As YouTube is a product of Google and one can use single login/password across all the products, you got to sign into your Google/YouTube account first of all to create a YouTube channel. Remember, you cannot create a YT channel if you do not have a Google account.
Therefore, to start off, you just need to have a Google account and sign into the same, and go to www.youtube.com.
Step 2 – Create a New Channel
Once you are logged into your YouTube account, click on the top right corner of the screen where your profile photo (or initial depending upon your account name) is. There you’ll find an option of “Create Channel”; click it.
Make sure you have already shortlisted the name for your YouTube channel. Channel’s name should be relevant to your niche or can be in your own name too! Don’t worry, you can always rename the channel at a later stage.
Step 3 – Customize YouTube Channel
Once you have named the channel, it’s time to customize it. Customizing means to fill sections like Channel Art, About, etc.
The Channel Art can be made using Canva. Make sure you add keywords relevant to your niche when filling information in the About section, for it will help you rank your videos at a later stage. Fill in relevant and to-the-point information.
Step 4 – Go to YouTube Studio/Settings
Once you are at your channel page, click again on the top right corner where your profile is. You’ll find a link to YouTube Studio there, click it.
Once you are into YouTube Studio, go to settings; you’ll need to fill additional information in different sections here. Fill relevant information in following sections:
- Channel – Basic Info, Advanced Settings, Branding and Feature Eligibility
- Upload Defaults – Basic Info and Advanced Settings
- Permissions – Fill additional e-mail ID if you wish to give access to your channel to someone
- Community – Can be skipped at this stage
- Agreements – Nothing to fill in
Step 5 – Start Creating and Uploading Videos
Your YouTube channel is ready to upload videos now.
YouTube prefers videos that are shot horizontally, for the interface is made like this. Make sure you go through YouTube guidelines before you post any videos. Shoot videos according to guidelines and upload.
Once uploaded, you’ll need to write the title and description of the video. Use as many keywords as possible. Add tags that are relevant to your channel and video. Fill information appropriately.
YouTube loves consistency; therefore it is suggested to post videos on a regular basis.
Suggested video editors for mobile phone and PC are Kinemaster and DaVinci Resolve, respectively. Mac users can edit videos using iMovie.
Step 6 – Monetize Videos
Once you have achieved certain benchmark, i.e., 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours, you can monetize your videos. You’ll be paid according to the views you get across all your videos per month.
The more videos you make, more is the likelihood of you getting more views and earning!
So, now that you know how to create and YouTube channel, go ahead and make some interesting and catchy videos.
